The Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir & Orchestra

Andrew Wailes, Artistic Director & Chief Conductor

In 2024 the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic celebrates its 175th year of music-making in Melbourne, making it Australia’s oldest surviving cultural organisation and the RMP Choir one of the oldest continually-existing secular choirs in the world. Founded in 1853, the RMP Choir and Orchestra today continue to present high quality performances in and around Melbourne, and as well as presenting its own concerts, RMP choristers and orchestra players often appear in conjunction with other organisations, in recordings,  and at major events in Melbourne.
